Milestones are school-wide events/action items within myFolio with set due dates or deadlines. Some myFolio Milestones apply to all myFolio users at the school, while other Milestones can be assigned to specific users and are known in myFolio as a Focus.
Milestones are optional for the school and can be toggled on or off.
Milestones that apply to all users at the school include:
- Profile Completion
- Goals Meeting
- Year-end Summary
Milestones that can be assigned to specific users, and are known in myFolio as a Focus, include:
- Mid-Cycle Conversation
- Project
- Classroom Observation
User specific Milestones are assigned via the "Focus Settings" page which you can access by selecting "Focus Settings" from the "Manage drop-down list.
How-to Toggle Milestones
Milestones can be toggled on and off via the "Milestone Manager" page which can be accessed by selecting "Manage" then "Milestones." Here myFolio Admin can turn on or off Milestones and set the due date. After making any changes, click Update at the bottom of the page to save changes.
To enable Focuses, first go to the Customization Manager and toggle on the Observation, Mid-Cycle Conversation, and/or the Project Focus. Then go to the Milestone Manager and toggle on the desired Focus and set the due date. fter making any changes, click Update at the bottom of the page to save changes.
Active Milestones, their due dates, and their completion status are visible for each user on the myFolio Homepage page under the "My Timeline" section. The completion status of each milestone is also reflected on the supervisor's Roll Call Page.
Email notifications can be turned on to remind users of upcoming Milestones deadlines from the "School Manager" page accessible via the "Manage" drop-down list.
Milestones Description
There are several Milestone types available on the myFolio platform. See below for a detailed explanation of each:
Profile Completion
This Milestone tracks the completion of the myFolio Profile components that are active for your school. These can include Education, Teaching/Work History, Narrative, Accomplishments (Personal and Professional), Five Words, and Goals. When active, this Milestone applies to all myFolio users at the school.
Goals Meeting
This Milestone tracks the creation of a Goals Meeting Note that documents a meeting between an employee and their supervisor (or Group Viewer or Collaborator.) When active, this Milestone applies to all myFolio users at the school.
Mid-Cycle Conversation
This Milestone tracks the creation of a Mid-Cycle Conversation Note that documents a meeting between an employee and their supervisor (or Group Viewer or Collaborator.) The Mid-Cycle Conversation is a Milestone that is also a Focus Setting. It applies only to myFolio users who have been assigned the Focus Setting of Mid-Cycle Conversation.
Project
This Milestone tracks the completion of a Project assigned to the employee. The Project is a Milestone that is also a Focus Setting. It applies only to myFolio users who have been assigned the Focus Setting of Project. A typical project would be year-long. An example of a Project would be "Develop a plan (working with the technology staff) to deploy tablets to the lower school."
Year-end Summary
This Milestone tracks the creation of a Year-end Summary Note that documents a meeting between an employee and their supervisor (or Group Viewer or Collaborator.) When active, this Milestone applies to all myFolio users at the school.
Classroom Observation Milestone
In myFolio, a Classroom Observation can be documented by creating a Classroom Observation Note. The Observation Milestone tracks the creation of these Notes.
myFolio users have the capacity to set up to three Observation Milestones and set individual due dates for each.
