Milestones are items within myFolio that can have due dates or deadlines. Some myFolio Milestones apply to all myFolio users at the school. Other Milestones can be assigned to specific users and are known in myFolio as a Focus. Focus and Focus Setting have their own support article.
Milestones are optional for the school and can be turned "On" or Off."

Milestones are switched "On" from the Milestone Manager page. Due dates are set on the Milestone Timeline page. The Milestone Timeline has its own support article.
Milestones, their due dates, and their complete/incomplete status are shown to the user on the myFolio Homepage page. The complete/incomplete status is also reflected on the supervisor's Roll Call Page.
As described in the support article on the School Manager page, email notifications can be turned on to remind users their Milestones are due from the School Manager page (in myFolio click Manage-->School Manager.)
Let's look at the Milestone Manager page, which can be reached by clicking Manage, then Milestones.
This Milestone tracks the completion of the myFolio Profile components that are active for your school. (See the Customizations Page lesson for more information about activation/deactivating Profile components.) These can include Education, Teaching/Work History, Narrative, Accomplishments (Personal and Professional), Five Words and Goals. When active, this Milestone applies to all myFolio users at the school.
This Milestone tracks the creation of a Goals Meeting Note that documents a meeting between an employee and their supervisor (or Group Viewer or Collaborator.) When active, this Milestone applies to all myFolio users at the school.
This Milestone tracks the creation of a Mid-Cycle Conversation Note that documents a meeting between an employee and their supervisor (or Group Viewer or Collaborator.) The Mid-Cycle Conversation is a Milestone that is also a Focus Setting. It applies only to myFolio users who have been assigned the Focus Setting of Mid-Cycle Conversation.
This Milestone tracks the completion of a Project assigned to the employee. The Project is a Milestone that is also a Focus Setting. It applies only to myFolio users who have been assigned the Focus Setting of Project. A typical project would be year-long. An example of a Project would be "Develop a plan (working with the technology staff) to deploy tablets to the lower school."
This Milestone tracks the creation of a Year-end Summary Note that documents a meeting between an employee and their supervisor (or Group Viewer or Collaborator.) When active, this Milestone applies to all myFolio users at the school.
After making changes to the Milestones (turning them On/Off) make sure you click the "Update" button at the bottom of the page.
In myFolio, a Classroom Observation can be documented by creating a Classroom Observation Note. The Observation Milestone tracks the creation of these Notes.
By activating one or more Observation Milestones (up-to three) one or more due dates can be set for them. These Milestone due date(s) can then be assigned to specific users through Focus Setting.
