Carmen Sund

Carmen Sund has been in education for over 30 years. She has an undergraduate and graduate degree from Georgetown University and began her career as a part-time World Language teacher in 1992. She has served as the World Language Department Chair and is currently the Dean of Faculty at Maryvale Preparatory School in Lutherville, MD. Her current role has involved the creation of a holistic faculty observation process. She is frequently in discussions with faculty about best practices and recently completed the Teachers Mentoring Teachers class through the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her goal is to continue examining the observation process and professional development opportunities to help faculty in their discipline-based and psychosocial journey at school. Carmen also heads the Educator Council at Maryvale, which was established in 2024 to navigate faculty questions and concerns, and is a member of Maryvale’s Leadership Team.
